Karlstad: Energy kits

The Energy and Climate Advisory Service of Karlstad Municipality and Hammarö Municipality has introduced a new free way for the public to get control of their energy use. The new initiative, ”Energy Kits”, contains electricity meters, thermal imaging cameras and hygrometers to help residents identify energy thieves in their homes. Those who borrow the kit can use the measurement tools to see which appliances in the house are drawing the most power, whether there is a draft from a window, and whether there is moisture in the house. The kits are available at all libraries in Karlstad and Hammarö.

– We want to find new ways to help and reach out to more residents. With the energy pass, you can measure the consumption of different appliances and equipment to reduce your energy use and know what you are actually paying for,” says Rita Nielsen, energy advisor, about the idea behind the energy kits.
