Uppsala: Carbon reduction requirement for new buildings

When the municipality permits other actors to build on municipal land, requirements can be set and the municipality can find actors with common climate goals. In 2023, requirements for maximum permitted climate impact will be tested in a land allocation competition in the Rosendal district. Together with Uppsala Municipality, developers will identify and test new solutions for urban development that has minimal climate impact and helps to bind more carbon dioxide than is emitted.

The fourth stage in the construction of the Rosendal district aims to become a climate-positive district as part of Fossil Free Sweden’s climate leadership program.
